Materials
As we prepare for the 2018-2019 school year there are some things that are needed for the classroom, they are as follows:
-a notebook (preferable spiral because it will be used as an interactive notebook. Also, students may have to purchase another one if we run out of pages)
-folder (to be used for homework)

General Policies
-This year 6th grade teachers have been provided a "Fast Pass," which is a laminated pass that students can use to go to various locations in the school that do not provide passes back to class. As a result, I have decided to use this pass to allow students to use the restroom (if absolutely necessary). Further, students will only be permitted to leave the classroom one at a time and return promptly to class. The use of the "Fast Pass" can be revoked if students abuse the use of the pass.
-When entering class students need to be sure to turn in their homework. Students will turn homework, and any other collected assignments, to the bin in the front of the classroom. If students fail to do so at the beginning of the class this will result in the work being counted as late.
-Student - Teacher communication must be done using WCPSS emails. Thus, if a student has a question about a particular assignment they must use their WCPSS student email account. If I am contacted by students using a personal email account my response (verbatim) will be: "Please use your WCPSS student email account." This is a county wide policy that all teachers must follow.

Behavior Expectations
As a method to guide positive student behavior in the classroom students will be told the definition of DECORUM, which will also be posted around the classroom. This definition will be expanded upon and serve as an acronym for how students are supposed to behave in class. The acronym is as follows:
R- respect others and yourself
O-own your action
A-apply positive leadership
R-respect our school
